Yes, even in February, Palisade experiences much milder weather than most of the rest of the state, thanks to the surrounding Grand Mesa and Bookcliffs. Hop Aboard the Amtrak to Palisade
Make it a truly magical adventure by taking the train into town! Leaving Union Station in Denver, the Amtrak will take you on a beautiful journey through the Rocky Mountains (free from the ski traffic and snow build-up on I-70) and drop you at the Grand Junction Train Station. While the train journey takes a little longer than your average trip by car, it sure beats sitting in traffic for the same amount of time if you run into an accident or construction!
Palisade Transportation
Once at the train station, call any number of our local tour companies to pick you up and drop you at your accommodations – or head straight out on a winery tasting tour! Picking Your Palisade Winery Stops
Palisade, Colorado’s Wine Country, has over 30 wineries. So how do you start planning which ones to visit?
If you like sweet wines… stop by Talon Wines at the Meadery. They offer a great selection of honey wines, fruit-based wines (like pomegranate, apple, and blueberry!), and more.
If you like dry wines… visit the ‘wild west’ of Vines 79 Wine Barn! The saloon-style tasting room and western feel is the perfect place to sip classics like Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and other blends.
If you like bold reds… Carboy Winery at Mt. Garfield Estates has several made with grapes grown right in the Grand Valley (they have a few white and rose options too, plus food!)
If you like Old World wines… try Varaison Vineyards and sample wines in the Victorian home’s tasting room.
