Colorado Riverfront Trail
For an easy walk or bird watching, the Colorado Riverfront Trail has a series of trails beginning in Palisade. On this beautiful path, you’ll experience river channels, small lakes and ponds, canals, islands, wetlands, cattail marshes, and cottonwood groves. Or, take your bike and go on a bike ride. It’s also perfect for road runners looking for a place for miles of uninterrupted, paved pathways. This trail is a staple in our community and runs all throughout the Grand Valley (from Loma and Fruita, through Grand Junction, to Palisade). Many of our local residents enjoy the path to get outside for sunshine and exercise!
How to access the Palisade portion of the path: The Palisade trail begins at the south end of Brentwood Drive at Riverbend Park. You’ll cross the Grand Valley irrigation canal and walk for 3/4 mile along the north bank of the Colorado River. Along here, you’ll see the Bookcliffs, Grand Mesa, orchards, and wineries.
